Specialized Allez or Giant FCR3 Bike ?

Notices
Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Specialized Allez or Giant FCR3 Bike ?

I currently ride a mountain bike but am now in the market for a road bike, which will be used for fitness & commuting a couple of miles to work. I am not into competition riding and have narrowed the choice down to either a Speciallized Allez or Giant FCR3 which are both around £500, lightweight & have carbon forks. I would appreciate any comments regarding which one you think is best & why. Look forward to hearing anybodys views.
Thanks
Rod

Ex Mountain biker here and I went for an OCR3 as my first road bike. Took a while to adjust to the different riding position but I am glad I did.

Go for the Allez. And can assure you- neither are light, the CF forks as almost solid with no give in them but both are good starter bikes.

Which is best? Really hard to say. From a quality standpoint you will not see a difference. Both very good quality bikes. You need to ride them and see which one feels the best. You need to see what shop treats you better and where you feel they will help you by answering all of your questions and making sure the bike properly fits you. That is what will make your experience a good one.
