What is the norm?
What is the norm for installing the cyclocomputer transmitter and wheel magnet? It seems that usually I see it about 6 inches or so from the rim, wouldn't it be better closest to the hub?

but if you put magnet near the hub (IIRC Mavic has system that does this), you move the signal transmitter further away from the computer, attenuating the signal if it's wireless. May not be a big deal until the batteries start to go.

If you mount the magnet and pickup too close to the axle, on some computers you can pick up the magnet twice in a revolution, doubling speed and distance. Powertaps, run with a magnet in bike computer mode are prone to this because where you mount the pick up to receive from the hub

I think the pickup looks best further towards the top of the fork, with the magnet ~3/4 up the spoke.
