Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Hope he had some insurance...

Anyway, I got a few Cervelos and Felts for sale if anyone wants them. 54cm is too small for me.

Where does Dave live? Hey, if they steal your stuff and your insurance is competent, it means you get new stuff.

Lives in a really nice area of Salt Lake City. Yeah, probably insured but pain in the ain to do replacement and feeling of vulnerability is the worst.

Another buddy here (SLC) was broken into and only took all of his bike stuff. Some think it is targeted theft for this pricey bike stuff. Guess will be some good deals on ebay

I wonder if we have a copycat of the bike thief in austin who just got busted. Guy was one of the local riders, befriended people, found out where they lived, then stole their high-end bikes n stuff.

f the stuff. If they got "everything" what about all of the memoribilia? Think his yellow jersey is gone? How about other jerseys, etc.

In the end it's all just crap anyway but a theft can really make you feel violated. That's really too bad. I'm a fan of Dave's and hate to see bad stuff happen to him.

That sucks for Dave. Amy Winehouse's home was broken into while she was on (a well publicized) vacation recently too.

With today’s technology you could easily have your Blackberry beep you when the thieves first entered the house.

When I was in Brazil recently I read a story about a German tourist who owned an apartment in Sao Paulo. He was able to see the thief, from Germany, in his apartment/condo in Sao Paulo trying on his cloths in a web cam and a short time later, when the police arrived, the thief getting arrested. Good stuff.

Just say'n

If this is for real, I'm sure he had lots of stuff in there that was irreplaceable. Someone has already pointed out his yellow jersey. There's probably lots of stuff like that he's accumulated not just from his career in racing, but also from his life off of the bike.

Seems to be more common that even I thought....

WonderWall, February 24, 2009

MTV reality star Audrina Patridge was robbed on Oscar night. No, not of the award for "Best Concerned Expression While Wearing a Bikini." The "Hills" brunette was really and truly robbed. Burglars broke into her house and lifted valuables and what she says were sentimental items.

Dont worry about Audrina, though. She's going to see that justice is served, reality TV style. She wrote on her blog, "I'm going to be posting shortly surveillance footage of the intruders with pretty clear shots of their faces."

We hope that, in the spirit of "The Hills" itself, this gritty reality footage is complemented by the latest Fall Out Boy jam.

People need to stop taking **** that isn't theirs. I agree with Psimet; the memorabilia would be the worst to lose.
