Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

The KOM line on Mill Creek is where the road flattens out a bit so I walked down a couple hundred yards so they would pass slower. I got a good look at Tom Boonen but everyone else was a blur.
A friend rode down a couple miles and there weren't a lot of fans so he had easy shots.

Only the amazing Shaun Wallace could ride around with a surfboard attached to his bike and get away with it!

The "Ulrich Fan Club" in the first picture would have been more credible if they had spelled his name correctly.

The two guys that were at the top in Borat thongs are members of the Triathlon Club of San Diego--one of them is the president of the club, Brian Long--they pulled this stunt to raise money for charity, which is a big part of what TCSD is about (I'm a proud member). Check out this YouTube video of them, and scroll to 4:10 for the funniest reaction from an Astana rider:

When I was watching the race on TV and saw those dudes in that I was saying"Why Why Why would anyone wear that in public? What makes people do that stuff?" And the reaction the Astana rider had was what I wanted to do too. That is just too weird and there were some kooky people up there.
I do have to say Antlerman was pretty cool but if he were to trip ,man that would not be good. I just wish they would stay off to the side.

If the fans are going to be running next to the key competitors on the crucial climbs where they could trip, fall and injure them, at least it's comforting to know they're well over the legal DWI limit after drinking Vodka non-stop for 8 hours or so.
