thought this thread might be an appropriate place for my question.
has anyone ridden with 3T Super Competizione bars before? How are they?

Not sure if any of them are 'Super' Competizione, but I've got three sets of Competizione bars, two original silver, and one the later gun-metal gray finish. Not sure what the 'Super' branding does to make one different from the standard Competizione.
The only bar I've used for almost 20 years now, and I like them. Perhaps I could use a shallower drop version instead of the Merckx deep drop that all of mine have, maybe I'd spend more time in the drops, but that's a minor point. Bit of a long ramp(the distance from where the bar bends forward from the tops to the front of the curve) so they stretch you out a bit.
Terribly heavy by today's standards if you're a weight weenie.

Hi all,
Probably the worst picture here
but it is just a quick shot with my cheap digicam.
freshly stripped - just today.
SO here it is mio stallone italiano Basso Loto
I like authentic components. Goes well with a classic frame.
Selkof Seatpost.
Stronglight headset.
Dura ace stem.
Modolo Bar.
I have not decided yet if I keep this set or sell it.
Here is the set which will replace the Basso:
I am changing from a brazed to a welded frame - hope this one is stiffer. Do not get me wrong here - the Basso was quite stiff for a SLX.
Gonna try that 0degree stem.
@ KRhea, got that Merckx as well - in 58cm
cheers for now and keep up posting italian beauties!

Not exactly sure. Maybe 2004 ?
This is def. a 2001.
Fuji official: All frames Aluminium & Carbon from next year on :-(
I think there also was the 'marseilles' in 853.
Not quite sure what the difference in terms of geometry was.
Something I am actually interested in...

Come to think of it, what companies produce 853 bikes?
I know LeMond had some, but they're gone, and all the Bianchis are 631.

saw a mercier here just recently:
https://bikesdirect.com/products/merc..._serpensIX.htm
I am in EU - some real bargains here and no, I don't work for...
Voodoo does some but the roadie comes with carbon stays :-(
...
let me think
...
I saw 'custom made' for a reasonable price on ebay - maybe worth checking out!
...
Truly there are few but there ARE. Just keep on looking. If I bump into more I will post...
p.s.
frack me... second edit.. Sorry, I am too tired to type and my english is getting abysmal...
need to sleep.
good night!

You might want to keep an eye on the underside of the seatstays, where they attach at the seat binder bolt. I had a Basso Ascot with that same design, and it developed a crack in that spot. That was after just 5 years of use.

thx for the warning!
I know the issue. that clamp has to be sensitivley fastened, you are right!
I also think it is a good idea to get a seatpost that fits tight.
still, it is a beautiful detail of the frame's design.
cheers!
