Another dumb Campy question...
Would a mid 90's Record crankset (8 speed) work OK with a newer 10 spd group? and would it also use the same square taper BB? Thanks.

IIRC, my 1995 Record 8 crank used the current 102mm spindle length. Hopefully a seller would know what spindle length the crank he's selling needs. As for the chainrings, Campy did move the big ring .4mm closer to the little ring when 10 speed was introduced in 2000, but made no changes for 9 speed in 1997. The spacing was changed by making the mounting area on the ring .4mm thinner. Most likely it will work, but with the new 5.9mm chains, I wouldn't guarantee no problems.
FWIW, Campy made their first chainring spacing change since 2000, with the new 11 speed. The big ring was moved another .6mm closer to the little ring and the teeth are .1mm thinner.

Like DaveSSS said, I think there's a chance it won't work. I put a Shimano R600 compact double crankset, designated "nine speed" cranks, on an otherwise 10 speed Shimano bike the other day and the chain would "hover" above the small ring instead of engaging properly. The chain didn't fall into the gap, it simply hovered over the small ring's teeth. I had heard of this phenonemon, but not seen it until then. I put a 10 speed 105 crankset on the bike, and it solved the problem. Later, in comparing the R600 nine speed crankset and 10 speed 105, it was visually obvious that the gap was wider on the R600 (I don't know by how much, I didn't measure). I've installed nine speed chains on "eight speed" cranks many times with no problems, so who knows exactly what's going on. Bottom line is that you'd need to try it and see.

Prior to seeing this thread, I actually called Campy to ask the same question. I have a '94 Chorus double (8 speed) crankset, and I had asked if it would be compatible by switching to 10 speed chainrings. The person at Campy said it wouldn't work, but didn't elaborate as to the reason why.
