Cyclingnews reviews the Dura-Ace 7900 group
I was starting to wonder if they were ever going to come out with a proper review of it-

They didn't seem overly impressed. I don't like the looks of it. I didn't think I liked 7800's crank but compared to 7900 it's a thing of beauty. The 7900 brifters have a prototype-looking finish as well. Flight Deck is something I'd love to have on SRAM. I wonder if SRAM has any plans for electronic shifting.

IMO, a silly price. i would never buy top end of anything because price/performance is always poor. >95% of the road riders would not get any real benefit from Durace over Ultegra/105. The same goes to Campag, of course. Centaur/Veloce is probably all that is needed for 95% of the road riders. I had a D/A 10-speed on my first full carbon bike in 2004 and next one had 10 speed Ultegra in 2005 and the difference was so minimal that I felt ripped-off with DuraAce.

it's sad to see shimano putting out a new group that isn't really better than the previous... i'd take a 7800 group with 7900 brake calipers over a full 7900 group after reading that review.. $450 to replace a front chain ring?? holy crap! do i look like a fool named pcad?? i wouldn't pay that.
it's not about NEED... fat amateurs buy the high end stuff because it's slightly lighter and they apparently can afford to burn the cash.

Every group has its quirks, but the pricing is getting out of hand. 3x-4x the price of ultegra?

So it's not worth to pay all that extra $ for DA 7900? Better to stick with ultegra?
Other than the weight do I have any other benefits with DA?

Looks like 7800 with a 7900 chain may be the hot ticket.

Don't Bug Me
There just isn't enough difference/improvement to justify the cost, plus the crank really turns me off.
