Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

It's almost over

It's almost over. The comfortable morning commute, light fog, cool 60-degrees, no humidity. It's been enjoyable for the past few months. It's coming to an end however. Back to leaving the house at 530am and into 78 to 85 degree heat with spirit crushing / towel soaking humidity. It was nice while it lasted.

You're complaining about having to give up 60 degree weather for 70 and 80 degree weather?

I can't wait until we get out of the 30s and 40s here. It will be nice to get off the rollers and ride outside without 5 layers of clothing.

It's not just that, but the 30 minutes it takes to get ready with all those layers. Plus, looking at the current temp to figure out how many layers....

I dream of the days that I just get home from work grab a jersey and bibs and go...

That and the whole ride and put the bike away thing without having the need to do a full strip down cleaning because of the salty grime that gets everywhere...

Never. I'm a wuss. I'd probably crap myself if I had to face hills.

Yep. Then having to turn around after a mile and go back to get another layer because it's colder than you thought. I hate winter.

Not if we have to have a Florida summer. I hate humidity.

Yes, the humidity is stink-ola. I can break a sweat rolling the garbage can to the end of the driveway.

you should try living in Taipei. or Singapore... 100 km rides at 35 plus make you much thinner. even my ten mile commute needs a shower when i get to work.

Heck yes. My mother moved to Ohio a few years ago and when I visit her I truly appreciate our lack of humidity.

It's never too hot for me. NEVER. I did 75+ mile rides through the mountains in the 95º noon-day Arizonaesque sun in Greece and drank about 22 liters of water and I friggin LIKED it. I like hot humid weather even more.

Riding in the sub 20ºF cold with 20-30mph winds, now THAT sucks. Hard.

I guarantee I'd puss out in that kind of cold. And trainers suck. Mine collects dust.

Summer in the Deep South ... it never ends. Heat is one thing ... but the Heat/Humidity combo ... a crusher. All the way through September ... into October. Oh, man ...

... but I couldn't handle the winters I read about on this forum.
