Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Carbon Braided Rails

Do the carbon braided rails on the Fizik Arione CX fit in a regular seat post? Are they the same diameter as a titanium rail saddle?

They are pretty fat and don't fit in all posts. They are def. thicker than the ti rails. Note that they are taller but not wider, so they will fit in posts that have up/down clamps like Thomson, Ritchey, 3T, but not round clamps like the Specialized posts.

If the clamp looks anything like this it won't work. I googled Bontrager seatposts and they all look just like the Specialized ones.

On the other hand if it looks like this you are probably fine

Ritchey 1-bolt seatposts need a new clamp to fit those rails. They offer two clamps, one for the fizik, and a different one for other carbon rails.

USE Alien posts also need a different clamp for those carbon rails.

If in doubt, email the manufacturer. I was told by Thomson that their clamps work for carbon rails, just be sure to disassemble it all the way first so you don't scratch the rails.

the rails are actually taller than they are wide (aka oval). I have the new Antares with these rails and it definitely needs a bit more space.

Thanks for the replies. I think I'll probably opt for the saddle with titanium rails to be sure it will fit in my existing post.

I really don't feel like spending a lot of money on a new saddle and then having to spend more on a new post.
