I need a Boat for my Pony
If I had a boat
I'd go out on the ocean
And if I had a pony
I'd ride him on my boat
And we could all together
Go out on the ocean
Me upon my pony on my boat
The mystery masked man was smart
He got himself a Tonto
'Cause Tonto did the dirty work for free
But Tonto he was smarter
And one day said kemo sabe
Kiss my ass I bought a boat
I'm going out to sea
I'd go out on the ocean
And if I had a pony
I'd ride him on my boat
And we could all together
Go out on the ocean
Me upon my pony on my boat
The mystery masked man was smart
He got himself a Tonto
'Cause Tonto did the dirty work for free
But Tonto he was smarter
And one day said kemo sabe
Kiss my ass I bought a boat
I'm going out to sea

And they kissed each other
And they turned around
And they saw me standing in the aisle
Well I did not say much
I just stood there watching
As that .45 told them goodbye
Lyle's the best.

You Know!? For Kids!
Back in the 80's, I used to see Lyle Lovett at the breakfast counter at the Delux Burger Bar in College Station. Little did I know then that I was in the presence of greatness.

You Know!? For Kids!
Another great Texas songwriter
I'm gonna live forever
I'm gonna cross that river
I'm gonna catch tomorrow now
You're gonna wanna hold me
Just like I've always told you
You're gonna miss me when I'm gone
Nobody here will ever find me
But I will always be around
Just like the songs I leave behind me
I'm gonna live forever now
You fathers and you mothers
Be good to one another
Please try to raise your children right
Don't let the darkness take 'em
Don't make 'em feel forsaken
Just lead 'em safely to the light
When this old world is blown us under
And all the stars fall from the sky
Remember someone really loves you
We'll live forever you and I
I'm gonna live forever
I'm gonna cross that river
I'm gonna catch tomorrow now
You're gonna wanna hold me
Just like I've always told you
You're gonna miss me when I'm gone
Nobody here will ever find me
But I will always be around
Just like the songs I leave behind me

*edit* Oops, sorry--missed the "breakfast" part. Robert Earl would still be sleeping it off.

I must have, as they used to hang out on Lyle's front porch and play songs according to a friend that lived near them, but I do not recall. Lyle and that huge ass hair was hard to forget.
BTW, I rode my road bike, one of the first bonded Trek 1000's to the Delux quite a bit. *
*obligatory bike reference.

You rang?
Look
I understand too little too late
I realize there are things you say and do
You can never take back
But what would you be if you didn't even try
You have to try
So after a lot of thought
I'd like to reconsider
Please
If it's not too late
Make it a cheeseburger
