Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Got Me Arse Swiped Today

Beautiful Southern California Sunday afternoon....

Heading back up into Santa Susanna Pass from Simi, some lone Harley gal decided to swipe 'me arse as she passed me doing about 40 mph. Surprised me but as I looked up to see her speeding off, she waved..like she does it all the time.

Small gal with long blond hair and very high rise bars. And a club jacket of some sort. How she was able to get close enough to swipe me without hitting me too hard or scaring me into the ditch, I don't know.

But it made me smile.

Then 10 minutes later, I experienced a horrifying death wobble on the descent. But that's another story.

Maybe, just maybe she was excited to know that the Tete' was finally going to paint...you know, after all of your procrastination and all.

Perhaps there was some object causing unusually turbulent airflow around your mid section?

That's a pretty deft hand; she's clearly practiced the spanking a lot.

Didn't you mean to post this on Craigslist's "Missed Connections"?

Just kidding. Any random fun like this is multiplied 10x when it happens on a bike.

Solvang Spring Double - 193 miles and 7500 feet of elevation change. 8:53? What...is he slipping?

I'm jealous. That is an amazing time.

To answer your question John...I'm pretty much here full time right now. Job moved to LA and I've been here in LA dealing with my Mom and her health issues. But I still live in Portland - plus my kids are there. Needless to say, it is a difficult time and I haven't been riding much.

I'm back in Oregon next weekend but in LA the following. If you can put up with someone just getting their cycling act together...I would love to ride with you...

Maybe we'll get "swiped" by a cute blond on a Harley....

Hmmmm...... You sure it was a "She?" Just trying to count how many long blonde haired men vs. women I've seen on a Harley.
