Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

London(UK): Litespeed with S&S Couplings Stolen

Help! My beloved Litespeed was stolen this Saturday at 2.30PM from a bike rack just off of Oxford St. It is very unusual as it has the S&S couplings in it, so you can take the frame apart in two pieces for travel.

Specs:
Frame: 52cm Litespeed titanium with S&S Couplings (see how they look on a comparable Merlin frame: https://www.sandsmachine.com/a_mer_r1.htm ), unpainted frame without decals.
Fork: Litespeed Carbon, with white LITESPEED decals.

Groupset: Shimano Ultegra, 9 speed
Crankset: Shimano Ultegra, 170mm, 48-38 (very unusual!)
Cassette: Shimano Tiagra 12-25
Wheels: Mavic Cosmos
Tyres: Continental Ultra Gatorskin, front 23c, back 25c
Seatpost: Thomson Elite black
Seat: Specialized black and grey
Stem: Thomson black
Aluminium handlebars with black tape
Pedals: Look silver
Computer mount for VDO1.0+ wireless

Any sighting, please call me: 07872032043, will pay a reward

Good luck.

Also call the pawn shops nearby (or whatever passes for them there).

Also, see if there are any local swap meets going on.

It was locked with a Kryptonite D lock and an unknown brand cable lock. Locks were taken as well.

I've been told that it's worth heading to Brick Lane market early on the weekend as well. Take some proof of purchase and a lock, if you find it, lock it call the police and you'll get it back.

Good luck, that's a fine bike.

Kind of curious, could they have opened the couplers, slipped the halves past the locks and rode away?

hopefully he didn't lock it around the front triangle. Locking up a Ti road bike that's been 'customed up' like that. Sucks to lose it and all.....but did you ever think it was a bad idea?

If that were the case, why would they take the locks?

It was actually stolen by Kryptonite. They don't pay out if you don't have the lock

It was locked such that even if you open the couplings, you could not take the frame parts...
I agree, never should have left it there. But you know, busy spot, 2.30PM, just a 20 mins visit to a shop

I'll keep an eye out for it.

There used to be videos on this site that showed numerous U(D) Locks being opened with paddle pop sticks, I can't find them now though.
Don't lock the bike up in public mate, if someone wants it they'll get it.
