$2400, weekend

Notices
Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

$2400, weekend

It was a race, non-sanctioned. Through the streets, paths and parks.
Twenty three miles, all out. No rules, $200 a man. Winner take all.
From the Northern suburbs of Chicago to the heart of the city. It was
a great race, I didn't get the money. I came in fourth. Man, it was fun.
Worth every penny.

You ever do anything like this?

There was nothing illegal about it. We used the bike lane on the street.

Grasp the concept if you can, my smog induced comentator.

No one was on a freeway or hi-way or tollway. It was streets with bike lanes,
lake front bike paths and it was not an alley cat. It was twelve guys, throwing
down in a legal fashion, OK?

If you can get over that, maybe you might amount to something.

Did they obey all stop signs and traffic lights?

edit: Someone else asked already, and the OP chose the 5th amendment.

I'm going to agree with this

As a young dumb road cyclist (definitely NOT a fixie hipster though), this sounds freaking awesome! It needs to be longer than 23 miles though, more like 230 miles.

Los Angeles to Las Vegas, maybe LA to San Diego even

man, i gotta try this sometime.

Well as someone in their 40s I'll say this sounds like fun. I wouldn't be there but that's b/c I might just as well give my money to the winner w/o the drama of being DFL. IOW I'm not in the shape to do this. I used to do something like this back when I was 15 or so but it was alot shorter and for a whole lot less money.

Stop signs/red lights? I run them anytime I can and I'm not trying to win $2200 either.

Here's a video of the "wolf pack" race in LA for those of you who don't know what he's referring to: https://www.wolfpackhustle.com/viewStory.php?storyId=586

riding fixed + brakeless in LA = idiots. it's nice to see more people riding bikes and all, but when a bunch of bozos ride around like they own the streets...pathetic.
