Not too far. Here south of Atlanta. Hopefully up to ride the Silver Comet trail from ATL our to the Alabama border. Camp overnight and then ride it back. Also, leading some group rides in my hometown of Rock Hill, SC.
|
Annual Petoskey Mi. trip in September, love it up there.

Where are you planning to travel to cycle this year?
|
Cycling around Tokyo Metropolitan for 2 weeks in the fall on my Giant. Mostly city riding to avoid the subway and train system.
|
We have a week (maybe two, haven't decided) of wandering around New England. My husband will spend the day doing is photography thing, and I will ride. We are tying the trip in with a triathlon and gran fondo in the area.
|
I will go to Belgium a few times during March-April, the UK for a bank holiday weekend in May, Italy for 2 weeks in July, then France for a week in August. All of it for cyclosportives/Gran Fondos/amateur races. Depending on my business travel, I might also bring my spare bike along and get in some riding in a few other places.

I am going to mostly stay in the Bay Area, CA. Anyone interested? I ride from san jose to mill valley or san jose to dublin,CA and morgan hill.

funds are sparse this year due to moving with all extra $$ going to home improvement stuff. still...hoping to knock
out one or two 3-4 day trips this year. in order of likelihood: 1st choice-paso robles/central coast area, california 2nd choice-grand canyon north rim, arizona along with a day in zion np, utah and 2 days in las vegas, nevada for valley of fire state park and red rocks state park areas 3rd choice-alpine death ride area just south/southeast of lake tahoe, california 4th choice-point reyes natl seashore area just northeast of san francisco, california. will probably knock out a few mid-week "weekend" 2-day trips in the santa monica mountains, san gabriel mountains & san bernardino mountains here in socal. |
Summerholiday this year:
1 week in Interlaken, Switzerland. 1 week in Braunlage/Harz-area, Germany. Maybe a couple of days in Holland, but depends on the funds and weather. Have 4 weeks off in the summer. :thumb: I normally bring my MTB so i can go everywhere, but will be bringing my racebike this year. Having a go at a few mountains in Switzerland. :giver: |

Just got back from a weekend in Santa Barbara with some old high school friends. The theme was eating, drinking and cycling. |

Beautiful!
How is the cycling there? Cars here in Sicily are more reckless but they're more aware of their surroundings. Meaning, they know somehow there will be a scooter, motor cycle or bicycle around them (of course, there are exceptions). As for scenic climbs, there's tons. Be sure to pick the routes. Seaside routes are pretty much a cyclist's usual route. Anything going north is a bit tricky as the roads get narrower. If you look at Palermo on Google maps, the SS and E roads are the only roads cyclists can take (of course also the local streets). The A series roads are "autoroutes" = highways. I have to admit I love this place. I already feel sad that I'm leaving this place in 48 hours. It's not perfect but I really feel at home here. This reminds me of a cheaper but historical Nice,FR. I love the locals here. |

I'm not sure on how to answer this question, but coming from a North American - you could not ask for more.

Thanks for that ... we've done quite a bit of cycling in mid-Europe (France, Germany, UK, etc.) but would like to get down that way at some point.
Add thousand years of getting occupied by Greeks, Romans, Spanish...Palermo is an amazing destination for culture and just about everything "Italian". |
I'll take a couple trips to the blue ridge mountains this year to ride, that's 1-1.5 hrs for me, so not a big deal and it's spectacular in the fall. That'd be my only "going there to ride" trip.
I do plan on renting a bike and riding during free time in San Diego when I go there in November, and I'm going on a trip with my wife's family in December to Oahu, so I plan on renting a bike for the week we are there. I've never been to Hawaii, nor have I ridden anywhere in California, so both of those trips are going to be very exciting for me. |
and, my photo got published by Bikerumor:
Bikerumor Pic Of The Day: Palermo, Italy :) just wished you won something if they posted your photo |
