Where are you travelling to cycle this year?

Where are you planning to travel to cycle this year?

Are you off to Europe, Australia, Asia, Africa, South America, North America ... for a tour or for an event?
Are you heading to the other side of your own country for a tour or event?

Where are you going, when are you going, what's the event?

I have my two cross bikes sitting in a container in a warehouse in Dalian, China, waiting for me to unpack them.

Are you in China with your bicycles?

Most likely going to visit my family in Quebec near St. Jerome and try and plan some rides out there. Man if I could find some races out there it'd be so fun.

Trogon 04-07-09 09:42 PM

I'm home in the US on a break, returning for 6 or so months sometime in June.

Already been to western CO for a week this year. RAGBRAI in July. Will be going to WI a lot this summer for MTB races. Back to CO for MTB nationals. Once CX season hits we'll be all over the country hitting the USGP series and to Bend, OR for nationals.

I used to ride to Bird's Hill Park every couple weeks when I lived in Winnipeg ... it was only about 50 km away ... made for a nice ride. :)

Riding Mountain NP is a great place to ride ... I love the rollers coming back from Dauphin ... after the climb.

And Logan's pass is actually in Montana. Here are some photos from my trip there last summer. :)

VERY different from Manitoba!!

How's the flood situation? Doesn't sound as bad as '97 yet ... that's a good thing.

Going to Montana next month. Ride with my paps and hope for nice weather.

I'm going to Napa to do the Tour de Cure - my wife's tagging along to drink wine.
We get away from the kid for about four days and have a good time.
Being from OC, it's an easy road trip.

Studying abroad in Florence for 3 months in the fall, really want to bring my bike. Any advice from people who have been?

botto 04-08-09 02:18 AM

Belgium, France and maybe Italy

JimF22003 04-08-09 03:29 AM

Back home to Idyho I hope. Haven't been back since 96, and haven't ridden my bike there since the 70's. I'm shipping my backup bike ahead to my Dad's place, and will probably leave it there so I'll have some incentive to visit more often...

jesspal 04-08-09 04:46 AM

Going to Colorado next week, first chance to really hit some serious hills.

patentcad 04-08-09 04:53 AM

No dedicated cycling holidays planned.

Have cycled to Malaysia (which is across a 1/2 mile causeway and about 30km from my front door :))several times, Indonesia (Bali) and China (Beijing) this year. Home trip to the UK later this year and Perth (Australia) for Christmas.

That should be it. Work travel is minimal this year and we're expecting a baby any day now so cycling will take a back seat (hurrah!)

crazyb 04-08-09 05:40 AM

audiojan 04-08-09 08:01 AM

This summer we're going to Austria and Germany for some nice riding. And probably another trip to Norway as well. Have to seek out those mountains...

aham23 04-08-09 08:46 AM

mattm 04-08-09 09:50 AM

davis, ca for the Gold Rush Randonee 1200k in july.. it'll be my first time riding in CA or even going there in fact, and my first 1200.. it's gonna be an interesting ride.

that and i might pedal to our 400k brevet next month, which is way out in ephrata, east of here. it would be 150 miles and a mountain pass on friday, then a 249 mile ride on saturday. i'll probably need a ride back though!

i generally avoid traveling far to get to rides, but these are my exceptions this year.

Great pictures. I live in sunny southern california...and dream of riding in the green mountains to the north. I grew up (pre-cycling) in northern california, and although the all-year (dry) riding is great, I really miss the beautiful scenery.
