Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

truly ridiculous!

at my race last week there i caught up with some of my younger teammates after they`d finished their race, and went over to commiserate on another fairly mediocre performance in which they all got shelled out the back, to be rather shocked by the new gizmos they all had - top of the line earpieces and radios!

their race was a THIRTY KM jaunt around the course! i asked them what they were talking about, and they said `tactics`. brilliant. i have a feeling the `tactical conversation` might have gone something like this...

`how are you?`

`f*cked`

`and you?`

`wheeze pant groan`

`where`s my mummy???`

`can i fake a puncture?`

i felt like giving them a good slap...

The OP didn't have a question, though. All he did was whine about his team. His OWN team. Anyone who comes into a public forum to whine about his own team is a jerk. And this applies double if the team really didn't do anything wrong other than get dropped.

Classic and Vintage. I always put my helmet on when I go in the Road Cycling forum. It's tough in there.

In the US, you can't use radios in lower categories. There are multiple good reasons for that.

I'm pretty sure I can spell. Based on the fact that it was a racing related post, and I clearly know better than to talk **** about my teammates on a public forum, there was a wealth of insight there as well. It's your own failure that you don't recognize it.

So if they're your teammates and they were talking about tactics, how come you didn't have one?

All you said was "cheese with your whine". It wasn't THAT insightful.

they`re all weekend warriors with pretentions to greatness and the fact is that they can`t ride their bikes in a paceline yet without a near-crash every 10 seconds, and they get shelled every race. to a man they`ve each got a top-end bike with campy or lightweight deep rims, and now these radios? it`s evidence if ever it was needed that cycling is indeed the new golf, and that most, even if they have talent, want to run before they can even crawl. the pretentiousness of these guys using a team radio unit at a 30km race was too much, and i told them that they`d be better spending more time on their bikes than on the web wasting $2000 on gizmos they had no use for.

i didn`t mention the team name, nor names, so what the problem is with gstenbee and sproggitman i have no idea - unless of course you`re 4th cats with radios?

gluteus i was riding in a different category to them. they`re all younger and cliquey and put the cash in together to buy them for themselves. the point was, how can you talk `tactics` when you`re off the back and suffering just to finish...

Your post is too difficult to follow. Try some basic punctuation. Unless you are texting, there's no sense to that.

Probably similar to this- you need to watch all the way through to see how the headset communications work here.

I don't get it - if your teammates are a bunch of insufferable losers, it sounds like you found the right team for yourself. How come you're mad?
