Q: Trek Madone 5.2 vs 5.5 (better bang for buck)
Hi,
I am considering purchasing a 08 Trek Madone 5.2 for a while already. When I went into the store to put down a deposit, I saw a 08 Madone 5.5 for about $400 more. How would you compare both bike in components and in performance? Is it worth the extra $400? Or should I keep the $400 with a 5.2 and use the $400 on other upgrades or on the protection plan?

5.2 is probably the best bang for the buck in Trek's Madone line. Just my 2 cents.

The '08 5.5 has Dura-Ace 7800 components vs the '08 5.2's Ultegra SL components. However, that doesn't include the Dura-Ace crankset, but rather a Bontrager crankset. The 5.2 has the Ultegra SL crankset which I would imagine is better.
Just test ride them and see if you feel like the Dura-Ace is worth the extra $$$.

Redshield is the best program ever. Buy it. Seriously. If you plan on having the bike for more than two years, it will pay for itself easily. Free replacement chains and cassettes for 2-4 years. It's the bees knees.
