Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Pieces of CAAD

Picked up my new 9-5 today. Was glad to get it after a 5 week wait ( it's from the March batch, I think).

Thought I'd post some shots you don't see in the brochure.

I ordered it through a bike shop (not local). A Cannondale rep just happened to be there the same day.

If the bike shops in your are are not going to stock this year, you may consider contacting C'dale. They still should be able to ship to one of your shops.

The only turn off on that bike is the Tektro brakes. We just got the same exact bike for my daughter.

I think I have one of their recall-one-size-fits-all spoke thingies. It doesn't even connect to the spokes.

I was kinda' disappointed to see that the sticker is under the clear coat. I was going to remove it. It looks really cheap in that spot, IMO.

They really aren't *that* bad. Has anyone here even tried riding on them before complaining?

If I am to believe the bike shop I called today, CAAD 9 w/BB30 will be still built in the US under CAAD 10 name next year. In fact they had one w/Ultegra SL for $1700. Which compared to a $1400 9-5 is a very good deal. I just can't justify paying extra $700 over the 08 Fuji team w/Ult-105 I am about to buy. I really want a CAAD 9 though

The CAAD10 BB30 rumor has been floating around for a while in various forms,
I for one would love to get my hands on one... we'll see what actually happens.

Tober- I'd love to see photos of yours, is it black+red, or the stealth?

It's too bad they don't make that bike available with a better groupset and components. Build your own, I suppose.

Hi,

Great photos. I am planning to buy an 09 CAAD9-5 in white myself. Could you post some more photos please? Especially a photo from the front and side would be appreciated.

Thanks!

I'm hitting some steep and curvy descents this weekend to find out what all the Tektro stink is about. If they work they stay.
