Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

weekend warriors

the nearer to the weekend i get, the more excited i become. i keep checking weather forecasts, tinker with the bike, read more bf, work out routes on google maps.

am i normal? if not, anyone other weekend warriors suffer the same disorder?

I'm guilty of the same. The main difference is that I use Bikeroutetoaster to do my maps.

I do the same but it's usually every day.

(wait until you start doing 2-a-days)

Tell me about it. I also have a boat and spend every weekend between mid March and early December on it. Between it and cycling, I constantly look at the weather forecast...and end up cursing NOAA and the local forecasters constantly.

Fairly normal. I suggest you start riding more, maybe commuting daily?

That's me pretty much every morning I ride so it's just about everyday. I get my stuff ready the night before so I don't wake my wife and daughter up at 5am (she sleeps in our bed quite often) then I watch the Weather Channel as I get ready. The weekends I look forward to the long rides, and tomorrow tomorrow my daughter will be at my mother-in-law's and my wife at work in the morning so that means group ride for me!

Not normal to the general population. Here in BF that is a lack of commitment.

Well, I still look forward to the weekends because they usually have the longer rides. Plus, my weekday rides are usually my commute so the weekends are when I get to break out and change the scenery.

So yes, it's normal to me. I have been planning tomorrow's ride since Monday.

Ditto. I get really excited for weekend rides, even though I ride 4 nights during the week. I look forward to waking up and going for a long ride instead of going to work.

Have you seen mapmyride.com? Google maps + you can draw a red line through your route...it'll give you your distance and show elevation changes...nifty.
