Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Seat Wedge

I know this is sort of an open ended questions, but what style/size/brand seat wedge do you guys recommend?

I'm looking for something that won't unzip and that can carry all the essentials (i.e., keys, phone, wallet, spare tube, etc)...

Have at it!

if you're going to shove your wallet and cell phone in your bag, I'd recommend a specialized wedgie (not the mini)

Volume: 98 cubic inches, expands to 119 cubic inches

i picked one that has no velcro and a rubber strap that hooks on the seatpost that's very easy to take on and off.. it uses the nylon strps similar to a helet clasp to attach to the seat rails.

it's an avenier ?? brand around 15 bucks. has the tailgate type opening.. works great. has some kind of dumb zipper pull tabs at the bottom that I don't care for, but overall very happy...

found it or one close to it https://centurycycles.com/itemdetails.cfm?LibId=21483

I use the Trek side loader. It has good capacity and I prefer the look to most wedges.

If you have a skinny saddle, then you need a skinny seat pack otherwise it will hit your legs with every pedal stroke.

I use this one.

It is the Small Nashbar Fly Bag (Currently just under $10 at Nashbar). I have a tube, patches, air chuck, 2 CO2 carts, 2 tire levers. Enough room for a key or a key fob. ID and debit card with a few $$ goes in a ziplock bag in the jersey. If you want to put more in, get the medium or large one.

I've got one of these, which I like, a Topeak medium wedge pack:

https://www.amazon.com/Topeak-Aero-We...5078470&sr=8-1 17 bucks. They make a bigger one, too.

I'm also going to get one of these as a weight-loss reward, a BikeHard Aerostasher XL, a little pack that fits at the intersection of the stem and the top tube. https://www.bikehard.com/bags.shtml It's a little more pricey, but I haven't been able to find anything like it at a better price. If anyone knows of an equivalent at a better price, I'd like to know. Seems like a good use of space, and it can be used for stuff you might want get at without getting off the bike, like an iPod or a phone. It looks like it wouldn't work if you don't have a little "L" where your stem meets your top tube.

As far as the bikehard product, do you think a Glock 26 would fit in it? I know it's kind of a weird question but I always carry when I bike. Thanks.

Take all the stuff you want to put in you seat pack, bring it to your lbs, test out a few and buy the smallest one that fits all your junk.

The Bicycling Mag ad says it's 7-3/4" X 1-3/4" X 4-3/4". Or you could carry something smaller on your bike.
