Do I look high?? (in the saddle)

Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Do I look high?? (in the saddle)

My and I were out yesterday and shot some video...

Have a look at mine, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yxzgG57jPUs

This was the first ride of the year on the Roubaix, been riding the Tarmac, and I felt a little on the high side. Nothing has been changed from last year, but it did feel a bot on the weird side...

Here's the wife in couple shot....

If your hips are rocking (hard to see) then your saddle is too high.

Looks OK to me. I see a significant bend in the leg at the bottom of the stroke and I don't see heels rising overly high.

I see folks who have the saddle so high that there legs go to nearly full extension at the bottom of the stroke and their heels are over high. Along with that, you get a slow choppy cadence. That's probably 3cm too high, or more.

How did you hold the camera and climb to follow your wife?? Nice looking road too. One comment - your wife seems to be stretched out too much - her arms look locked at the elbow. I could be wrong though.

if you are not encountering problems or pains why would you worry about the fit?

About holding the camera and climbing...It wasn't a big climb so I was able to spin behind her. If it would have been longer I would have been screwed...

It's funny, since posting the video I went and checked the height on the Tarmac and Roubaix and they are both basically the same...within a 1or2mm...

About my wife, you are the second person to mention she looks stretched out. She's starting to wonder if maybe a shorter stem would be good. The thing is she's comfortable on the bike and doesn't complain of any pains. Also, in the first video she was just cruising along. When she's hammering she's much lower on the bike and there is a definite bend in her elbows.

As long as bending her elbows a bit doesn't force her to creep forward on the saddle, she should be OK. Still, even when cruising, locked elbows usually says shorten something!
