Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

I don't get what the big emotional upset is with shaving your legs, I mean people talk about it like you are renouncing your citizenship or getting married... seriously, if you try it and don't like it, just don't shave again, wait 2-3 weeks, and you're more or less back where you started. Commitment level is pretty low..

Option 1 seems like the best one, this has just been total torment for three (?) days, constant itching

I never thought I would go to the dark side but, I shaved for the first time 3 weeks ago. I love it, my wife gives me post ride leg massage and it's amazing without the hair. Also by her response the first time I shaved she must have liked it too.

You must be really unlucky. I shave as well. Have shaved for the third time now, and never had any itch at all.

There is another reason for shaving legs/arms ...less sunblock and it goes on allot easier.

I shaved my legs yesterday for the first time because the power went out around 15.00, and I became extremely bored. It was easy, and I do not see why so many girls complain about it.

Also, your legs look more defined without hair, so I can see why all of you road cyclists do it.

It's 'cos they don't know it's not a big deal. My wife complained for years about shaving her legs and I was sympathetic.

But once I succumbed to all these stupid threads and started shaving mine every day (far more often than she does), I discovered that it can literally be done in a minute or two. In any case, it's far easier than shaving a face.

Yeah, I think the first shave would be the hardest, especially if you have lots of leg hair. Now that I have no hair, I do not see a quick shave here and there as having to take up much time.

Also, when it comes to facial hair, I just take my hair clippers with no guard, so I maintain my stubble. If I shave it smooth, I look twelve.

What part of Oregon are you from? I may have seen you around!

Go slowly - it is not a shaving race. Oh, and most importantly, use more than three blades. I tried the Gillette Fusion (5 blades) and liked it so much, I now have to go to eBay to get blades at a discount. Totally worth it.

Egyptian women in the time of Cleopatra shaved because they learned that hair promotes odor... granted I never smelled stench on someone's legs but for your pits and other nether regions it works.
I also heard once that Cleopatra had an interesting way of moisturizing her skin, but I digress.

Just when I couldn't think of an excuse for shaving my legs, BF comes down from the heavens and thrusts this thread upon me. Now I get to use the one I was saving for when people ask why I'm wearing spandex, "Because it makes me look and feel like a sexy motherf*ck*r"

You know what the hardest part of shaving your legs is?

Thought of this when I read your post.

Also, I know the video is old, but I just noticed that's the dude from Parks and Rec.

i'm giving it shot, haven't done the whole razor thing but i knocked all the hair down with a trimmer and my legs feel like a peach. i went for a quick hour ride and i think i need to shave the back of my knees but that's about it.

felt good and the shower after is nice with the water just running right off my legs.

Braun trimmers, use a 1/4" clip and go all the way up to the waist. Neat and trim.

Ya know, the thought occurred to me the other day, why don't you shavers just use this!

I'm not a shaver (yet...) but should I ever decide to, that will most surely be the way I go. Razor burn is for the birds.
