Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Trek Project One Pricing

I was wondering if the pricing on Trek's Project One site was the same that was quoted at the LBS? Are they going for full price or do individual dealers offer discounts?

Just curious, because some of the prices listed seem a bit on the high side when compared to other bikes (Cervelo, Ridley, Spec, Wilier...) from other online sources when the two are spec'd the same or very closely.

I can't remember the details, but do a search here for project one. There was a lot of talk of getting of the higher series Trek bikes with slightly lower end compoents with project one, and it was coming out cheaper than buying the next-bike down without proejct one.

You pay to go for the custom spec, even if you "custom-spec" the same parts as stock. I don't know of anyone selling P1 bikes at a discount.

The prices are usually a tad lower than suggested by the company. This is generally true among all retailers.

Build the P1 send it to the shop and make an offer. They will counter offer or refuse to deal. Try another shop as some if not most will give a discount.

Only if it a previous years model or a LBS promo the LBS has on the shelf for some reason.
