Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

How big a road bike do I need...

if I ride a 20" hybrid?

Do you roughly convert inches to cm or does a road bike need to be bigger/smaller?

Thanks in advance.

Do yourself the favor of going to a good shop and get a fitting, it will save you loads of fit questions down the line. There are a lot of factors that go into getting dialed in to your bike especially if you're planning to do more that just leisurely cruises around town.

Go to the Competitive Cyclist site and have them run their measurements through their fit calculator to get a good idea of what size frame they should be on, it's better than some haphazard guess.

With your height in inches, use this chart to see what range of frame sizes others of your height use.
