Building a New Bike: Look KG361
Thought I would share some pics. It's a 2003 model. It is currently at the shop getting the fork cut, and headset installed (I went with a Chris King..) The rest of my parts have been ordered, and I am expecting them here this week.. Will post more pics, when said parts arrive.
So, pics:

I'm really hoping so. This is my first go at a full custom bike build. Previous, I rode a Schwinn with a hodge podge of shoehorned Campy equipment (about 15 years ago..) More recently I bought a cheap bike off Amazon, a GMC Yukon, please don't die laughing. But I bought it so I could basically see how well I could take to riding so many years later, and with my terrible knees.. I've done well, and definitely love doing it.. But this bike is a hunk of junk, I have one gear I can get it into, even after a 'tune'.
So yeah, I'm shelling out a good chunk of change on building this, about 3k total... So I better like it, else I might cry...

My buddy has had this bike for awhile, loves it, it recently just developed a crack in the front lugged thingy, he replaced it with a 585. Great choice!

Will do... Just got it home last night, and didn't have much time to ride it before the sun went down. But I plan to do plenty of riding this weekend.
???
I used the sizing calc at Competitive Cyclist... I'm curious how you could think the bike is too big without knowing me... Or DO you know me!?!?

Oval R701's. No reason in particular, except I wanted a standard drop bar and knowing Oval puts out quality product.

wow... I'm not normally a fan of lugged frames, but that frame is hot.
Nice build!

Nice looking bike though. I've always loved those frames and the matte black is spot on. Good build.

Ahh... I didn't mean to come off like I took it as criticism, hence the smiley...
But yeah, I didn't notice the seatpost in my pics. Actually, the it has been brought up a bit. Where it was at before, was where the LBS mechanic had it for his test ride... I joked with him, "I've spent all this money on this thing, and I'm not even the first to ride it!!" lol...
And even more sad, I don't have much time on it yet. Got home so late last night, I didn't have too long before dark to ride. You can bet that will not be the case this weekend!

Seems like it's fit for either a "French Fit" or "Eddy Merckx" fit.
"The Eddy Fit emphasizes less saddle to bar drop. You will notice less exposed seat post on traditional frames and a lower saddle to bar ratio on all fits, including compact designs. Typically it requires a size up of about 2-3cm in frame size from what is today usually offered by in current aero professional look of today. But make no mistake about it, this fit will get you down the road with speed, efficiency, and power."
Nothing wrong with it...just not the poster-boy Euro Pro extra long Saddle to bar drop we see from most pros today.

Great bike ! "Classic" look and sizing with modern materials. I wonder if this will be a more comfortable bike on longer rides than the size most LBS would recommend.

Just finished up a 20 mile ride, and I have to say... I absolutely love my new setup. Granted, this was a huge step up from my previous bike, so my frame of reference is two extremes... But wow, everything just feels perfect with this bike... Although, I was hoping that it would magically make traveling against the wind, easier... lol... j/k...
Will be doing another ride tomorrow, of course... And myself and a few buddies are planning a trip up US1 from here, to St. Augustine, which is just at 100 miles, in a few weeks.
