Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Pro Frame Bike with lesser parts?

Anyone know of any good bikes with PRO frame but lesser parts? like ultegra, sram rival group instead of the high end components like dura ace, or sram red?

i found this one, but was wondering if anyone know of any other ones.

it is basically the 7k sl1 pro bike except it has ultegra instead of sram red, and lesser wheels.

Scott makes one called the CR1 Comp, that mates what used to be their top-of-the-line high-modulus carbon frame to a Tiagra groupset, at $1800 or so. They gave it a pretty good review in Bicycling, April 09.

The Giant TCR Advanced is currently used by the Rabobank Continental team, I think T-Mobile used it a while back as well.

i actually bought the CR1 comp recently. it was cheaper than buying just the frameset so i did the obvious thing and bought a bike i could ride while i built it up. it comes in at 19 lbs with pedals in a 56 but thats down to the wheels and tiagra. love the bike so far though.

yeah that's what i wanted to do as well. buy a nice bike with a pro frame and just ride it and build it up as i go... upgrading the wheels, and switch to sram red from ultegra or something..

the sl1 fuji looks like a magnificent bike
