My paint is perfect. I also looked over quite a few built up bikes at the LBS and just plain frames and they all are perfect. I don't know where that criticism comes from but I haven't seen a bad job yet.
You're just trying to start an argument to show how smart you are.

Well, there are at least 2 guys on TV who will sell you pills to help out with that situation. If the pills cost less than a Cervelo (any model) then perhaps Cervelos are overpriced?

    Something to think about.

I have nothing substantial to add to the Great Cervelo Debate other than that observation above.

Oh and I think Litespeed Ultimates are pretty cool, not to mention not prone to spontaneous carbon fiber explosions......

Edit: My 'paintjob" is pretty trick too.

I believe everything I say, as should you.

Anyways the point is that a Trek comparison is unfair, since they're probably the most overpriced bikes of all. I don't know of anyone who's bought a Madone 5.xx for anything more than 400 off retail. I don't know if the same is true for the S2

I don't know about their frame quality, but I've always thought Specializeds low-mid range bikes were overpriced for the components spec, heard some MTB riders I know complain about the same thing.

None of them suck. They are not all 'great bikes' however. Given the subjective nature of all this, the entire discussion is rather meaningless, that is to say a perfect BF Waste of Time.

Because they're the flavour of the year. I predict that this is the last year for Cervelo's "dominance".

"Designed by Engineers" No *****? Really? And Cervelo is the ONLY bike designed by engineers?

That's like having as your slogan "Produced by Chinese Labor Paid at Slave Wages!" Applies to all, and is blindingly obvious.

Otherwise, the things that set them apart?

They have bottom bracket shell separation issues.
    They're ridiculously over-priced.
The only one that rides half-way decent is the RS.
The P4 has been a total failure. Some shops don't even want to carry it.
Pretty much all of their bikes are "illegal" now by the UCI rules.
They're primarily for posers who want to impress others, not those who want to impress themselves.
You can have any colour you want as long as it's drab, boring, and monotonous. Red/White, Black/White, White/Black, Red/Black, Grey/Black, ad infinitum.

Yeah, "great" is subjective, but at that level where they are ridden by top level professionals, they are "no excuses" bikes.

But I love my S2. What's wrong with that?

Try not to be such an obvious poser with the 'colour' nonsense you pinhead. You're from friggin Indiana for criminey's sake.

The only bikes they really have concern about by the way are the TT bikes, they require a seatpost retro-fit, they've already prototyped it and it can be shipped within weeks. The same fix could be applied to the road bikes if needed, and that wouldn't impact bike racing in USAC events.

I'm sure you can provide evidence supporting that the entire brand has this issue and that it's rampant. No? I thought so.

    They're ridiculously over-priced.
Um, no. In fact the P2C and P3C are considered some of the best values in the TT/Tri world. Priced out a Pinarello Montello FM1 lately? How about a Ridley Dean?

The only one that rides half-way decent is the RS.
You've either never ridden other models or don't know what you're talking about.

The P4 has been a total failure. Some shops don't even want to carry it.
Yeah, the "total failure" that's still on backorder....

Pretty much all of their bikes are "illegal" now by the UCI rules.
As are just about all aero-style TT/Tri bikes currently on the market. And what percentage of Cervelo owners participate in events where UCI rules apply? Almost none? Yeah, I thought so.

They're primarily for posers who want to impress others, not those who want to impress themselves.
You can have any colour you want as long as it's drab, boring, and monotonous. Red/White, Black/White, White/Black, Red/Black, Grey/Black, ad infinitum.
The fact that you want to "impress yourself" with your bike and consider the number of available colors a drawback to a frame that's very competitively priced and wind-tunnel tested is further evidence that you're not the intended market for a Cervelo, or any performance-oriented bike for that matter. They're made to be ridden and raced, not looked at. The only way I'll ever impress myself or anyone else with my P2C is with a time on a clock, not a paint job or a brand name.

It comes from selling them, working on them, building them, listening to their propaganda, dealing with the reps reporting my posts to my ex-employer who then emails me asking me to stop bashing Cervelo, dealing with their many warranty issues, dealing with their damn fork recall, dealing with their $5000 bikes having crappy Tektro brakes with a Cervelo "e" on them, dealing with them sending 2 rear brakes and no front on 10-15 bikes, forgetting to include the JagWire barrel adjusters on just about every bike and expecting "us" to supply them, dealing with their stupid internal cable routing....cuz ya know, cables will REALLY slow you down! Etc etc. To be honest, I'm just sick to death of Cervelo - seeing them, hearing about them....everything.

I like the ride on my S2 on everything except the rougher chip/seal roads up here in Orange County. On main roads and normal roads, the bike is surprisingly comfortable, particularly for such a stiff frame. I weigh 170-180lbs, a lighter rider would find the bike less compliant. I think that's why Sastre preferred the RS, but most of the guys riding the Soloist Carbon (now the S2) seem to like it just fine. Stiff, not uncomfortable. I would guess it's pretty hard to make a real uncomfortable monocoque CF bicycle frame.
