Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

BMC SLX 01 Race Master

Experience with the BMC SLX 01 Race Master? Please share your feelings on this interesting machine!

I know I am asking alot about different framesets lately. Looking to build a powerful machine for my v8 engine .

Only have experience with the SLT 01 Team Machine and SLC 01 Pro Machine.

Competitive Cyclist has a demo program for the SLX 01. I did it for the Pro Machine...it's pretty painless. 7 days of riding for $300, goes towards the purchase if you choose to buy through them.

Guy on my team rode a Team Machine last year, got a Race Master this year (he chose it over the Pro Machine) and loves it to death. Says its the best riding frame he's ever raced.

Jackson Stewart rode a BMC SLX 01 Race Master to his second win at the Cat's Hill Classic a week ago. He is on the BMC Team, and this was his Centaur equipped 'home bike'.

'Warming up' prior to the race (his warm up was the race). He said he liked his SLX 01.

There's a surprise

OP - I have an SLC01 and an SSX. I love both of these. Beware BMCs are addictive!

Initial reports from local riders is that the new SLX is no more or less stiffer than the SLC01. I think it's cheaper so it maybe better value.

There is a Competitive Cyclist racemaser review on youtube. Glowing review, described it as a sprinters bike, the promachine as a GC / climbers bike. I'll have to remember that next time I'm huffing up a 5% gradient.

yeah i saw that review, but they give glowing reviews of all their products (albiet they carry good stuff). i have seen a lot of solid reviews for the machine, it looks perfect for me. i have test ridden the street racer which is awesome, but the harshness of the full au ride is rough on training miles (bout 17hrs per week), esp active recoverydays. since i prefer to train on the same machine i race, i thought the race master would be worth the extra $700.

looking for a purely objective opinion...though i understand that owners tend to be partial to their machines .

Not sure the racemaster is for you if comfort is key. The alu "trident" is not going to be as plush as a the promachine, that's one of the things coming out of all of the reviews I have read.

I also have a streetfire as my travel bike, I love it.

let me know what youi decide
