Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

I guess that I will jump in. That's me smiling for the camera in Shelburne Fall, MA with trusty Merlin. The other is taken by my friend from Michigan who came out for a ride. I'm saying, "come on man, you're fall off the back!"

Thanks! My OCP-ness runs deep.

And that's a Diva, the girl version of the Orca. It comes in blue and magenta, too. The green (they call it pistachio) is my favorite.

Running scared. 60 man pack hunting my a55 down...

A few minutes after my jail break (moto ref has his head up my ass giving me a push):

40 miles and two hours later, looking emaciated and wasted at the finish - 5 minutes ahead of the field:

Wait! They actually have road races in Texas at some other place besides Austin? I guess its not as much of a cycling wasteland as I thought. If I have to move back there from SoCal, perhaps I won't be as miserable as I would expect to be.

Where did that race happen? What website has the Texas racing schedule on it?

I thought that that "Everybody's a winner!" crapola had only infested soccer and little league baseball.

Kidding -- nice pic.

Starting off a time trial, I'm the guy in front. The guy right behind me is a Cat 1 who only caught me at mile 20 of the 26 mile time trial, not too shabby for my first time trial ever.

The sad part is that my son can't figure out why I never win a race. He always wins his. Well, he'll learn the hard truth soon enough.
