Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Just got fitted on my system six, freaking god!

Still two more weeks before I'm going to pick it up but I got fitted today and it was amazing, with my EA70 bars on it the reach was perfect, even better than my test bike. It weighed in with my Antares, heavier EA70 bars, and cro moly speedplays at 15.65 lbs . When I pick it up and throw stainless steel speedplays, and carbon cages on it I think it should come in around 15.8-15.9 lbs way under what I expected!

The only bummer is that the gorgeous control tech carbon post is too short so they're going to have to do a swap and I feel I'm going to get one of those hideous, and probably heavy FSA seat posts . The salesman said he might be able to swap it with an Alien Carbon seat post, I've never heard of it but he says it should be lighter.

Ugh I have a feeling this will be the longest two weeks of waiting ever.

So the shop has it built up but you can’t take it home for 2 weeks?

Enjoy your new ride; several on my team have the system 6 and like it very much.

It'll make it that much more awesome when it's yours.

Apples and oranges, but I have been waiting on a pair of Sidi's from PBK for almost three weeks now. In the interim, I'm in cheap Shimano's that my feet hate. The waiting, however long, will make slipping those Sidi's on for the first time feel like a little slice of heaven.

Ruh Roh, should I just take the FSA lol. God dammit I really liked that control tech post too.

Guys the reason I can't take it home is because it's on layaway, I could have taken it today but I want to get a few more pay checks before I take it home, I don't want to have a fat balance on my credit card that's too sketchy with how the economy is these days, people are losing their jobs left and right I'm trying to be as responsible as possible in my irresponsibility .

On another note I never thought I'd be counting grams but here I am, ughhhh. I know I'll probably end up buying carbon cages for this bike, still can't really get myself to pay extra for the titanium speedplays though.

kuf? wow- I'm sorry to hear that.

I've been out of work for 4 months (as of today) and I think I have a job lined up... but I won't start for another week or more.

It is tough out there (in here?)... just hang in there.

I just always plan for the worst, Warner Brothers has been solid but I wouldn't put anything past any company... I planned on getting more money in the bank before I made this purchase but this opportunity came up and I loved this bike so I didn't want to pass it up. I hate saying stuff like this but if god forbid I got laid off *knock on wood* at least my severance would cover the rest of the balance. Not to mention I could sell the Ksyrium ES Anniversary edition wheels that come with it to pay it off too.

Just did some research on the Alien Carbon... that's the post that should be on my bike, why it has a control tech I don't know... but there's another identical System Six to mine but in 56cm at the store so hopefully they can transfer the Alien off that and onto mine, after seeing that scale hit 15.65 I'm all of a sudden counting grams and an FSA is about 55 grams heavier...

The USE Alien is the worst seat post EVER. I got rid of two of them, replaced them with two Control Tech CF posts, no problems since them.

I don't want to pay for a new seat post you know that takes away from the deal I'm getting on the bike... if they have to give me a full carbon FSA that's 50g heavier oh well it's not a big deal but I'd like to get something nice since the bike was supposed to come with something nice.

I believe you, i'm assuming the seat post you cracked was an alien? I want to stay with the control tech, why the bike has been upgraded to a control tech I don't know but fact of the matter is the post is too short when fitted to my legs, I hear this is a common problem they've had with the cannondale's that come with control techs. I'm going to take what they swap me out with but I want to get swapped out with something that is in the weight class of the control tech, I don't think another longer control tech is an option :/

yep but those 295 grams probably will cost an additional $500+. I still say go for it!

I never cracked the Alien posts. The seat clamp arrangement on them was atrocious, always coming loose, then the bolts would strip, etc. I never had a seatpost that required constant attention before. After two years of that I said 'F this' and bought two Control Tech seat posts.

In other words get ANY seat post besides the Alien and don't worry so much about shaving a few grams.

IIRC the head is very finicky, difficult to adjust and to get to stay in place. I have some posts... I could probably sell you a s-works post for pretty cheap unless you think it will explode if it comes in contact with a Cannondale... I never even used the one that came with my SL2. Never even touched the bike.

Oh god... OH GOD, the disease has begun, i used to lol@weightweenies, and now I'm looking at Speedplay titanium's at wiggle.com over the stainless to save 50g then I've convinced myself on more Serfas carbon cages... oh jesus, what the hell. BOTTO GET IN HERE QUICK AND GIVE ME A DOSE OF REALITY....

295 grams you say steve.... hmm I think Zero Gravities, Selle Italia SLR Flow Carbonio, and some 3T carbon bars should do the trick.... lol.

As far as the post goes I'll keep your guys experiences in mind, I'll figure it out when I go in next week but if the thing is defective or works like crap I could probably get them to swap it out again, who knows maybe they can swap it out with one of those bomb 3T posts (doubtful).

Hey steve you want to help me break this mofo in on Gibralter the weekend of the 30th?

Literally

But FWIW, I like the Arundel carbon cages.

You will never get your bike as light as mine so you may as well not bother. Or die trying...
