Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Work or Ride?

Alright, here's the deal. I was planning on racing motocross tomorrow, but my bike is broken, so I have tomorrow "free." I have two options. I could either work in the morning for 6 hours pay ($8/hour) and ride solo in the afternoon, for probably 50 miles or so. Or, I could not work (my job is kind of informal, I can work when I want to, I'm good friends with my boss), and go to the local Sunday group ride. I would love to do the sunday group ride, but being a teenager, weekend working is the only income I have (until summer), and I really want to save up to upgrade my seat, wheels, crank, bars, stem and seatpost haha. What should I do?

it's obvious enough what everyone's going to say.

and if it's not obvious to someone, they are in the wrong place.

Obviously some people will say the obvious answer, but I'm looking for a more practical view on the issue...

Hmm. Have fun or work? How fun is your job, and is it as fun as riding?

You were going to race motocross tomorrow but your bike is in-op. So you're going cycling instead.

What was the question?

I definitely wouldn't all it fun. I mean its not horrible, but not a blast. I work at a golf course, so tomorrow I will be trimming, edging and raking bunkers...not that fun.

If you don't really need the money go for the ride, you will have to work plenty when you get older so enjoy being able to ride instead of working.

Or you can be like most of us, sit at the computer all day, talk on BF, wait to respond to these threads and stare at your bike!
