Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

The fact that you have to ask is a shame. Family is always first.

I am totally baffled that you would ask for advice about such a loss, and even more baffled that you would come to BF for that advice. If you went to a family help site you would certainly be faced with answers that would rub you the wrong way.

I have two younger brothers who live 2600 miles away, and if either or both were to pass on, I would drop everything I am doing to be there.

The poll is even more baffling. This has to be a joke.

+1.

What kind of a question is this?

No, this is not a joke.

Sorry if this sounds a little rash, but are you ******* kidding???!

I think you knew the answer before you asked....just do the right thing....I think your training will survive the off time....and I'm sorry for your loss.

Why not ask your family what they think? I'm sure they will give you a much better answer that we will. Of course they may disown you afterwards.

To post a question like this on BF is beyond asinine. Either the OP is a troll as i've always suspected or just a complete idiot and very high maintenance for the forum mods.

you deserve to have your sac ripped again

and if this isn't a joke, go to the funeral for your parents' sake, whether or not you feel anything for the bro.

Is there a contest going on right now for the worst/stupidest/most appalling/most horrifying/most juvenile/most assinine post...EVER...on Bike Forums?

If so, I hope the prize is a swift kick in the rear.

I have to assume that the OP is actually just a complete idiot, or has the moral capacity of a 9 year old. This is too over the top even for a troll.

To the OP: there are right and proper things to do in life. And there is responsibility: to your family and in a way to the dead - particularly your brother. And I don't give a frak if he was "technically" your half-brother. (A comment straight from a 9 year old mouth there!)

Do the right thing.

For frak's sake.

I just read your eff-ing poll questions.

You have the moral capacity of a spoiled child, apparently.

As ludicrous as this thread is, including "Suck it up and do the family thing" is just selfish to the Nth.

This just blows my mind.

This question disgusts me. That's such a pathetic reason to not go to your bro's funeral.

It would be one thing if you were getting a new bike or something.....since the new bike honeymoon can't wait for a funeral to be over. But this? That's so wrong.

Funerals are for the family, not the deceased. Go to the funeral and support the family. And don't ever tell them that you were considering skipping it to go for a ****ing bike ride.
