Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Nick, if you're playing with bar angle and such, try moving the brifters down a hair on the bars to get a flat transition to the hoods.

I also do this, and then make sure I can get my fingers on the shifters/brake levers when sprinting or riding the drops. Adjust bar angle for comfort, and enjoy the ride!

I might be going on a really fast group ride tomorrow with what I've been told is some fast descending and I'm not sure I want my first ride on this bike to be in a situation where I'm being pushed to my max. I want to get a feel for it before I start doing fast group descents, so my first ride will probably be Monday.

You'll get a feel for the handling a few minutes after you get on it. It's funny how fast the mind and body adapt.

Or just ride for 20-30 mins before you start the ride, and you'll be fine.

A 19.5lb 07' trek 1500 with Octalink 9 speed lol. It's been a good bike it's a bit long, and I'm going to keep using it for crits. I trated myself to this System Six so I'd be even more motivated to go out and train hard.

I got to take one of those for a 35 mile ride just before they hit the market. My impression was that it was a fantastic bike...super stiff and responsive but yet didn't beat me up.

Enjoy.

I'm swapping out bar tape for pink probably, right now I'm going to leave the red because the accents on the cages I'm using for now are red. I'm getting a pair of carbon Serfas cages on e-bay for $30 that are all black, then the bike will have no color theme so I can pick whatever bar tape tire combo and pretty much have a new color theme whenever. I'm also thinking of doing those neon green Pro 3 races with the neon green bar tape from Fizik.

I have a cracked top tube on my old System Six and I can squeeze all I want and it wont make a sound. You most likely popped an airbubble on the clearcoat but try making that sound again doing what you did before to be on the safe side.

I squeezed it again and it made the sound again a minute later i fooled with it again and it didn't make the sound. I figured it's best to forget about it, I was surprised how thin and flexible that top tube is though. I think it was the seam moving.

Did you actually try riding it with the FSA bars? I've got those bars on one bike, and their 44 feels more like a 42 or maybe 43 because there is a flair at the bottom, and that's where they do the measuring.

Yes, it felt horrible the bike wouldn't have been a choice with those bars.

I'm super amped they were able to find a longer Control Seat post, the Alien Post sucked hard and the FSA was heavy and ugly on this bike.

Yeah, I suppose that's a good amount of seat post ya got there for a traditional geometry frame. I'm presuming that you got it fitted though, so whatever works, works.

I see that Maxxis Zenith Hors are stock on that bike. I've bought a few pairs and they've been excellent -- YMMMV.

Nice bike.

I'll probably remove two or three of those spacers when I get comfortable on the bike, the reach feels SOOO much better than my other bike. It tips the scales w/o cages and a computer at 15.78lb .

OH on another note, this is my first carbon bike... I was chatting and kinda squeezed the top tube with my fingers and heard a little creak sound like as if something cracked, it looks fine, but I guess the top tube is thin on this bike and flexed a bit; maybe it was just the clear coat. I freaked out that I damaged it and still am thinking about it... am I just being paranoid or is that bad.
Beautiful bike; great choice. I know that you've been super excited in getting this bike, so I hope you enjoy it!
