No, absolutely not. Burn zones are wonderful places to be. You'd think they're big swaths of death, but get to one and you find the place teeming with life. All kinds of understory plants that are shaded out and don't exist in an established forest take hold in a burn zone. The light of day reaches the ground, you can see the views around you, the wind howls through the trees like masts on sail boats. Burns are stark and lovely reminders of the cycle of life, and a welcome escape from the rainforest.

The Pacific Electric. The further east you go, the emptier it gets. Which is a shame, as it could be continued for miles and miles east. But with nobody on it, that seems unlikely.

This shot is one of my local climbs. The road was damaged years ago and closed to traffic but perfectly passable with a road bike. It's a wonderful climb.

Started riding when the radar showed the rain was on the way out yesterday, and ended up with most of the ride devoid of cars like this:

I haven't done this one yet but plan to: the Meadows CG at Harts Pass. Gonna be a long, difficult ride. But worth it.

Freshly laid blacktop, like while I ate lunch at the lake they were laying it fresh. They were working on the oncoming lane up ahead when I went through.

How about an empty road that basically goes to nowhere?
