Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Yup, it's Hickory Rd right where Riverside turns up to the left to meet Cherokee. Recently paved, too, which makes it easier to look at the trees without dodging potholes that will swallow your wheel.

Empty if you don't count the frozen fallen tree blocking the way.

Any of you you have ridden Zwift's Richmond 2015 course will probably recognize this. This is facing the other direction, but it's the relatively new Capital Trail heading in to the city. The race course runs the other way along the road to the right.

What an excellent thread and absolutely lovely pics! Thanks!

One question - do people carry cameras on the rides, as not all seem to be smartphone pics?

I sometimes use my iPhone, but I don't like to use it while riding as dropping it would be really bad. I have a couple of point and shoots I use. I really like my Panasonic LX 5 as it has a wide lens that lets me shoot people next to me easier. It also have pretty hing quality for a P&S. I also have an old Fuji Finepix point and shoot I take sometimes just because it's smaller.

But I like to think my iPhone photos don't look like iPhone photos too....

Thanks for the info! A good P&S makes sense - just a bit surprising to me given the constant drive to lose every ounce from rides otherwise And no, I would have been hard-pressed to say your pics were iPhone pics. Surprisingly I liked the 4s more than one from 5s, sp on flickr...go figure. Time for me to charge my P&S battery - i knew I would use it someday!
