Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

fit problem?

I bought a new bike a couple of months ago. I havne't ridden road bikes before as my history was all mountain bikes. So I'm not really used to the lower position, etc.

Anyway, I believe that my LBS fitted me pretty well but I'm feeling some pain and aches mainly on my wrists (mostly left wrist) and neck. I'm guessing my wrists are from the position on the bars but I've been making more of an effort to not grip too tight. I wear standard padded cycling gloves. My neck hurts from the position of looking forward while riding.

Could this be a fit issue or simply just something that my body will get used to as I ride more? I generally ride mostly flat terrain for about 40 miles per ride but sometimes do shorter 15-20 mile rides as well.

My body geometry is a little odd in that my legs are short and my torso is long. I'm 5'8" with a 29" inseam. My bike is a 51cm Cervelo RS. The bars have some spacers.

The LBS is a well reputable shop in the area and does a good job with fitting so I don't think it's their fault. I haven't been back though since I bought the bike so it may be time for a second trip to have to make some changes?

Thanks.
