Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

For your right foot, move you heel out to the right and it will unclip out. For your left foot, move your heel out to the left.

I don't know by what you mean "adjust" - if you are talking about the float, then you need to actually buy a different set of cleats. I think they come in 0 degree, 4 degree, and 8 degree. 0 offering the least amount of movement.

ya I know that part, I barely clipped in! now I cant get it out! lol, there is a "Multitensor" adjustment w a Allen Key on the pedal where you place your foot on, with - and + so I adjusted it to the minus all the way, the back of the pedal seemed to losen up, thanks for the quick response but any other ideas? for a smoother clip in and out?

yes. You adjust them by using an allen wrench to turn the adjustment screw in the direction of the + for higher tension and - for lower tension. you clip in by sliding the toe-end of the cleat under the toe-end of the pedal and pushing down. You clip out by rotating your heel outward. The clip is a piece of plastic and isn't adjusted, unless you're talking about adjusting it's position on the shoe, in which case you loosen the screws and position the cleat where you want it.

If you clipped your shoe in without your foot in it, especially if the pedal isn't on the bike, it'll be difficult to unclip. But, if you're actually using them (foot in shoes, pedals on bike), it's pretty intuitive. fwiw, I've never really felt the need to adjust my keo carbons.

Hey NICK thanks thats actually my brothers name! I had a pair of cleats on my shoe before I installed the ones that came with the pedals looked almost identical!! SOoooo Toe in first then push down on the heel? is that correct? To clip out just slide my heel out "away" from the pedal? now this damm thing is stuck and I havent even mounted on the bike yet!! arggggggggggggg

It probably feels stuck because you haven't mounted them on the bike yet. The muscles that rotate your leg are a lot stronger than the muscles you're using to try to pull the shoe out of the pedal with your hands.

I'd think there's also a possibility that your cleats aren't made for Keo pedals. Shimano and Look Delta cleats can look pretty similar to Keo cleats if you're not familiar with them.

These are Keo cleats
these are Delta cleats
These are Shimano cleats.

Like I said, they look kinda similar, but are not interchangeable (I have no idea if you'd be able to get a cleat of one type into a pedal of another type).

After you make sure you have the correct cleats, put the pedals on the bike and ride before you decide whether you like them or not.

It takes a ride or two to get used to the feeling of being attached to the pedal. once you get the hang of it you will wonder how you ever rode without them.

I can guarantee that you will forget to unclip at a stop and freak out as you slowly tip over. It happens, but we all did it, your not alone. take some time clipping in and out several time with each foot before you take off on a ride, so you have an idea how it feels, and unclip early so you don't freak and try to jerk your foot out of the pedal.

If pedal is on bike twist your heel outward, and if this doesn't work, try inward, which is an acceptable alternate method for people who can generate more torque inward.

If the pedal is off the bike, insert it in a bench vice and using both hands on the shoe, twist it and it will pop out.

They aren't really made for walking off the bike, so you kinda end up waddling. Do yourself a favor and buy some cleat covers for the little bit you do walk in your shoes off the bike. they'll really increase the life of your cleats.

Watch your step on smooth surfaces, like concrete, walking in cleats can be like ice skating.
