Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

They're a bit spendy for what they are, but they're great. How many chains will you go through before you buy a new one?

I used one for a couple of Campy 10 chains. It didn't really seem to show much wear and it's hard to measure any kind of stretch on them. When I went to replace it I found they aren't making that particular model anymore so I switched to the SRAM 10 connector which also works great and costs only $5.00

No link stretches. The pins wear and so do the inner surfaces of the plates. If a connex link is used for the full life of some chains, like 5,000 miles, I'd toss it after one chain. If you're one of those folks who uses a Park chain checker and tosses half worn chains at 1500 miles, you might get several chains worth of use out of one link.

The normal amount of wear at .5% elongation is .0025 inch, split between the pin and bushing formed into the inner side plates. You could always measure the pins and compare to a new one. You might find that the pins wear more than those from the rest of the chain. Side clearance can also be measured with feeler gages. When new, it's in the .004-.008 inch range. A really worn chain will have .012 inch or more.
