Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

What makes the CAAD9 a great ss/fg road bike is the fact that it's a great road frame, and that has nothing to do with the shape of the dropouts. The reality is that you simply don't get frames with the sophistication found in a modern road frame but with track ends or horizontal dropouts. If you see that as a limitation so be it, in reality it isn't a limitation at all.
For starters....
Specialized Langster = Allez with track ends.
Felt Dispatch/Gridloc - Alloy road frames with track ends.
Bianchi Freemont
Giant Bowery
Cannondale Capo

i'm sure there are a few more out there, but those are the ones off the top of my head.

The BB drop of a road bike that could cause pedal strike issues with longer cranks when taking turns at speed on a FG.

I absolutely LOVE the sticker scheme.

Don't forget the Trek T1 and Trek Soho (which I've seen converted to road fixies)

"Could" being the operative word. There are thousands of converted road frames in use and most people don't seem to have a problem with the BB drop.

i love that people on this forum of all places are talking about the economic sense of doing this!!! most of the people on this forum are probably riding bikes that dont make economic sense for their use.
