Is this bike worth 150$? - 99 Fuji Finest CroMo w/ RSX group

A guy in town is selling his unused bike for 150$...

its about a 98/99 Fuji Finest w/ True Temper cromo double-butted tubing (nothing special, just low/mid-end TT cromo)

RSX triple cranks, derailleurs, sti levers. mavic cxp11 wheelset. generic seatpost, pedals, stem, etc...

real good condition..good paint, straight frame, etc etc etc. bike has very low mileage on it

here's the deal: i already have a road bike. its oversized (60st) but i was able to get the cockpit and riding position to fit me well. this bike is more 'properly' sized (56x56). i was thinking about buying it, riding it around for a while, and pass it along to a friend who is looking for a decent entry level bike. Im not looking to make a profit on it, but I don't want to take a loss on it. So I dont want to pay more than what it's worth.

do you all think that this is a good deal? :D

Sounds like a great deal to me. Based on what I've seen sell on Ebay I don't think you'll lose money.

Dan.

It was probably a $6-700 bike brand new 6 years ago, maybe a little more but knowing how Fuji will discount closeouts, it's tough to say. Something comparable today - steel w/tiagra - would certainly be more.

I'd say it's a good deal if it truly is in great shape.

Sounds like a pretty good deal to me. I've got '99 RSX components on my commuter/rain bike and they've held up very well. Nothing close to Ultegra, but very reliable.

yeah, i also do believe it was in the 700$ range.. i know that the current Finest is right around there.

Is the RSX a predecessor to 105 (like 600 -> Ultegra) or was it lower in the hierarchy?

btw I've told the guy that I wanted to purchase it

caloso 06-17-04 12:15 PM

I believe Tiagra replaced RSX.

Yes, RSX is one notch below 105.

Same here, I'm running RSX on my Trek. The bike cost me $500 - $600 (can't remember exactly, been too long), new. Nothing wrong with the components, still in good shape. It's a great deal. Buy it before he sells it to someone else.

Sounds like a deal!
