Time pedals - racing clip?

I have a few older models of Time RXE and RXS pedals. Just recently I broke off the 'racing clip' on the right pedal.

I notice the new models don't even have a racing clip any longer.

Anyone familiar with the differences between the newer models vs. the older ones?

Don't know if I should be buying new pedals if these aren't going to keep me locked in properly now that the little clip is gone.
