BB30 Update
What's going on with BB30? I have not been following the forum for quite some time, but I did a search and don't see a lot of buzz. A year ago, I would have bet that there would be a stampede in that direction by now. Is it just Shimano and Campy standing in the way, or is it something else?

More bikes are starting to have it, more cranks are starting to use it. For example the new (2010) SRAM Force group has one available.

Shimano is definitely holding it back. There are also not a lot of frames yet that have them, but more than there used to be. The new Force has it, as does Red, so that should help get more people riding it.
I plan on putting it on my next bike. I think the BB90 that the Madone has is a good idea too, since it's so wide, which increases stiffness, but still only 24 mm diameter, which isn't as stiff as BB30, which is 30 mm diameter, but less wide.
BB30 is going to be the future I think, not BB90 or BB86 or any of the others. Frame manufacturers only want to make one frame, because it's cheaper, so only one BB system will be able to win, and I think it will be BB30 from what I'm seeing so far.

You like a huge Q-factor rich? Despite it's narrowness, it's still much stiffer than a current "standard" 68mm BB. Obviously it would be stiffer if it was wider, but it's stiff enough.

I'm too tired to look it up, just trust me. BB30 is stiffer than the current standard. Someone else can look it up.
