Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Jamis Satellite (2004) vs Giant OCR3 (2005)

Hi,

I'm new to this forum and I’m sure I have posted this question in the wrong place. Anyways I used to ride XC when I was younger, I’m starting up again but want to get in to road biking. I've found two bikes that are in my price range and was looking for feedback on them. From what I have read the Jamis has had better reviews. Any feedback will be greatly appreciated.
The links for the adds are listed below.

Jamis Satellite (2004) asking $450, I was going to offer $375-$400

2005 Giant OCR3 asking $550, I was going to offer $420-$450

Hi,

I'm moving this into the regular Road Cycling forum... it doesn't belong in Racing

you must live near me...

the giant is by far the better deal simply due to the better component group.

do you have any idea if either of these bikes fit you, proper fit on a bike is the most important thing to consider.

Go with the Giant. Much better deal considering the high quality components. Ride it first, of course.

If they were both stock with Sora components, I would have said go with whatever's cheapest. But with Ultegra bits on it, the Giant is the way to go. I have an OCR3 and I like it.

Haha, this is my bike! I just lowered the price so I am now in your range. asking $475. Paid more than that for just the upgrades but have a little one at home and need the cash. Saving for a slightly bigger frame down the road.
