Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

New 2003 Bianchi Giro

That's right...an LBS by me has a new 2003 Bianchi Giro that was somehow hidden in storage according to them all of these years. It was the first bike they showed me when I said what kind of a bike I was looking for. I test rode the bike and it was awesome. The LBS even had the spec sheets still in a book on the bike. The price in the book was $1499 (probably from 2003), but now in 2009 it is $1599. Shouldn't this bike be going for less money?? I bet if a car lot had a 2003 car with say 100 miles, it wouldn't be sold for the same or higher price as the 2009. Is it even worth making a lower offer on a bike like this?

Haha a 6 year old bike should not have a mark up on MSRP. Sounds like the shop I used to work at there is a TI Merlin MTB hanging in the basement with a $5000 price tag from 2002. Its not going anywhere.

That's nuts, but my shop that I use to go to was like that also. They could care less what the year of the bike was. The price was what the price is. I'd make them an offer and forget about it if they don't take it.

That is the ugliest Bianchi I've seen. Looks like a BD bike.

That price is nuts, I'm guessing that's why they haven't sold it. My LBS has an 06 Bianchi Luna Chorus on the floor for about 25% off MSRP which I still think is too high, but it is gorgeous though.

The bike is a silver one and no it did not look like a BD bike.

The model they have is a silver one and not the nursing home green.
