Needing advice about buying a used Trek 370 sport road bike
Hey everyone,
I have been riding for a couple years now, never anything amazingly long or anything, but I am preparing for a 180 mile ride over three days coming up at the end of this month. I myself have not owned a true road bike, I have either borrowed for longer rides, or made do with a mountain bike for rides that were short enough to not need a road bike.
but I think its high time I got myself my own road bike so I am now looking for a used road bike that is fairly affordable.
Now I have found for sale a used Trek 370 sport road bike. Looks to be in good condition, I plan on taking it to a shop for a tune up, It is a 14 speed, shimano drivetrain, 56 cm frame, and I am a 6 foot person. Will this be a large enough frame is my first question?
Second, they are asking $225, is this a reasonable price?
Third, are there any other factors I need to be taking into consideration before I make this purchase?
I am not very experience in road bikes, so I thank you so much for any help you could give me. Thanks again everyone.

I am 6' and ride a 56 or 58 cm frame depending on bike, but other people our height think anything below 58 cm is too small.
But in my opinion, it is in the right ballpark as far as size.
For your best information on value, you may want to ask in the appraisals subforum of the Classic & Vintage forum. Some people there know Treks.
It sounds a touch high to me for a 370, since the 3xx is lower than the 4xx which is lower than the 5xx... 7xx. The discriminating buyer likes to buy at least 4xx level or higher, so I am not sure what the frame tubing is on the 370, but it was the less expensive line.
The xx after the first digit didn't typically represent a level, but a style. For example both 520 and 720 are touring bikes, with the 720 being higher quality.

yeah ive sent an email to the guy selling it. I tried to talk him down a bit on price, so I will see what he says to that. Im sure the 225 is just his starting price. For a used bike there is a good chance he would be fine with dropping maybe 30 or 40 bucks off it.
and yeah, Im not looking too much for quality, rather just a good enough bike that will last me a few years you know?
Thanks so much for your reply, it helped me a lot.
