Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Stop the butterflies, hearts and floral design in women's jerseys.

Jeez. These pieces of clothing couldn't get much uglier. Can someone recommend some nice looking women's jerseys, besides twin six?

I'm really glad I'm not a woman. All the WSD bike stuff I see looks like it was made for a 4 year old. Why can't they make a frame with sizing for women but that doesn't have flowers on it?

Yeah, I've looked through team estrogen and a lot of it is the same crap I mentioned. There are maybe 1 or 2 jerseys I would wear from there. I don't get why it's so hard to make nice looking women's jerseys. And yeah, I understand "nice looking" is subjective...but come on.. butterflies? hearts? Ugh. I'm not 12.

My wife is shopping for her first road bike and complained about the same thing. Why does her bike have to have flowers on it just because it's a wsd bike? All she wants is a cool road bike like mine that will fit her different proportions.

LAME.

the girls i know ride caad 9's, 6:13's, SL-1's, orbeas, and such. Of course they wear out team kit (no flowers).

i think the problem here is going straight for the WSD stuff and the wrong brands. Many women fit regular geometry bikes. Pearl Izumi, Assos, Castelli, Descente all make non-flowery stuff.

You're right. Like leopard print. And swirls. And then a bunch of plain pink, blue, etc.

FUnny. I have the Trek WSD 7000. Yes, a lower end non road bike, but sure enough, it's got those damned flowery designs but I still love the bike. A girl in the store loved the bike too but refused to even ride it because of the designs. I covered a little up with stickers but don't want to fully sticker my new bike

And I'm not a roadie but was looking for some "larger" bike shorts than most places have and found this site. It's not for "fatties" don't worry. There are lots of, what appear to me, nice jerseys though I don't know what is considered good or not. Here are a few of the more "interesting" ones, but there are lots without huge patterns and swirls https://www.aerotechdesigns.com/jersey_women.htm

My girlfriend likes the women's line from Castelli. Craft also usually has some designs that aren't best suited for a fourth grade girl.

Here are a couple by Hincapie Sportswear that my wife likes (though the jerseys at his site aren't actually that attractive, IMO) :

They make that stuff because a lot of women buy that stuff.

Those of us who don't like it seem to be in the minority. It takes a little more work to find jerseys to our taste, but it's possible.

*edit* re-reading livedinbars posts, I'm a little confused as to what would actually make her happy. She hates flowers, butterflies, swirls, animal prints, plain blue and pink, and only found 1 or 2 jerseys on Team Estrogen that she liked. Team Estrogen is full of girly stuff, but there are also some nice Castelli, Craft, and other jerseys that don't suck - more than just 1 or 2.

How about, instead of posting the ugly jerseys, you post the ones you do like so we can help you out a bit more?

From shopping for my wife, who hates the flowers and swirly prints and all that too, it seems that you have to go fairly high-end to find something that isn't ridiculously uber-girly. Same with the bikes--almost everything entry level is the hideous girly crap.

Listen to Val.
The whole WSD marketing thing is a bit of a scam.
Contradicting popular opinion and the marketers, women are not, on average, proportionally longer legged than men. All one often needs is an appropriately sized racing frame, stem, and comfortable seat.

the hideous prison kits make the pink look acceptable.
