Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

I'm pretty sure that you can't get enough on a blowdart to paralyze a full grown man.

Also, all the media coverage will just give the kids even more pleasure knowing that they got attention. Hopefully they will be prosecuted for this, but if they aren't it will only make it worse.

Awesome coverage! Good work on getting all of the news outlets involved. Would have been interesting to see if they could have gotten anything like DNA from a swap. One would think that the person blowing would put a bit of DNA on the red part.

By the time that I figured out what it was, I looked up to see if I could tell who did it, but there were 4 or 5 cars that it could have been and all were speeding away from me. I got to the end of the bridge, stopped to make sure that I wasn't bleeding then rode home and called the cops. I figured it didn't matter if I called them from the scene or from home since I have no idea who did it. They won't be able to do anything, but I figured I'd at least let them know that some ******* is out there doing this.

Here is a picture of the dart next to my remote for some perspective on size.

Is this going to be the new asshat trend after those punks shot up the Tour?
Dude, you are on the local news as I write...sorry to hear about some ****** bag shooting you....****heads

this is amazing. i can't believe the response from the media. good for you.

and what's the point of owning an effing blow gun in the first place...i mean, other than for firing darts at people on bikes. do people hunt chipmunks with them?

Jokes aside, a friend had a blowgun and the darts can penetrate pretty deep. You're lucky you didn't sustain a worse injury.

Yeah, I feel fortunate that it hit me where it did. If it hit any bone, face or neck it would have been a whole other story. It was a little too close to my junk though, that scared me once I thought about it!

Avram, such a nice Jewish name but I'm sure you didn't want ANOTHER circumcision. In all seriousness though, you kept a very straight and serious face, as did the reporters, when talking about your tush.

BTW...you look like an advertisement for Specialized! Did the reporters ask you to have your bike in the videos?

Haha, yeah they did. Maybe Specialized should hook me up! One guy even wanted me to put on a kit and ride around, but I was having none of that. I felt dumb enough as it was, didn't really need everyone seeing me in spandex too.

They should test that needle for any harmful bacteria/toxins/etc to make sure that you weren't contaminated with anything bad. Good luck with tracking them down...

Im sorry it happened to you, if it happened to me i would be pissed. How ever i find this kinda funny, if it was in a movie we would all laugh. Call me cold hearted. You probably should go get a tetanus shot though even if the dart was clean, those wounds are great tetanus to grow

I thought it looked pretty sore-ish when I saw the pics, but I just watched the thing ping its way into that upright wooden board, and damn!! its going at some speed. Your poor bum. Death to the assailants.

Sorry to see you get hit by a dart from a blowgun. In the state of Florida, blowguns are illegal, but I got to wonder why it is legal to carry a blowgun in the state of Washington? I'm not sure whether the list of states where blowguns are illegal are up-to-date or not... Not even Wikipedia...
