hello! opinion please.
Hi, I'm a new rider, i've gotten tips from the wonderful people of bikeforums.net and it looks like i'm looking for an allez or trek1000 bike, i've found a few and was wondering if they look okay? if anything, i'm curious about the pricing and what specific questions should be asked and whether i should offer lower or it's a good price. thanks for your time.
cheers!

Look for bends, write down what componets are on the bike, ask to ride it around the block (dont sit on the bike for 5 minutes, leave him your drivers license and bike for a good 30 mins to an hour) ask how much he paid for it. look at the quality of the tires, does it shift alright, does it need a tune up right when it becomes yours?
all of these are quite general, good luck with your purchase. and remember if it doesnt feel right dont buy it.

Those are all pretty ancient bikes. You should be able to get something made in the last decade...

Save a little more $ and buy a new introductory bike. You'd be a lot happier. Those bikes are nice, but old and you may find yourself working on them a lot (or paying someone to do it). If you are looking for a commuter or town/winter bike, those are decent. But if you are looking for a primary ride, then look at the LBS.
