Sleeper Bikes (frames)?
Ok, according to this the CAAD9 framed bikes are considered to be a very good frame which, for whatever reason, has been sold at a low price with functional but unimpressive components – kind of a “sleeper” bike:
So I was wondering, are there other bikes out there that fall into this “sleeper” category? Do any of the other big guys (Trek, Giant, Specialized) have a great bike hiding in the “back of the brochure” just waiting for better components to live up to their full potential? Kinda of an anti-Motobecane where you buy it for the frame and not the components?
Its frame is lighter than quite a few full carbon bikes (it's even lighter than Cannondale's own Six), it's stiff as hell where it counts but not totally abusive, it's fast, it handles well, and considering its level of performance, it's cheap. One of the best bang-for-the-buck bikes on the market.
