Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Need Help Choosing Tires.

I'm looking for a good set of tires 700x23. I have an old trek 93' 1100. I was looking at these, but this is my first bike and I don't know where to start. I am riding mostly on city streets. thanks!

if you don't mind red buy the 17.99 dollar ones. there does not look to be a big difference between any of them. if you had them in your hand you could maybe notice a difference, but they are too close to tell looking at pics.

Find some Maxxis Re-Fuse tires. They'll cost about $30-$35 each, but will last at least 2,000 miles and you're not going to have any problems with them.

Thanks! I got impatient and went to the LBS they recommended the conti gator skins. They didn't have 23s in stock so I'm gonna go back when they get them.

The link has them pretty cheap most of the time, but I find nothing wrong with helping a LBS that you

I agree with the Conti Gatorskins. I have had one on for 6000 miles and no flats. The rears go in about 3500 miles. Good tire for the money.

Thanks everyone. I was gonna get them online, but the guys at this LBS have been wonderful and I want to support them in anyway I can. He told me to stay away from the sporty looking ones. Otherwise I would have got the grey Hutchinson 2 Ultras.
